A typewriter shattered my destiny.
A short beginning and yet I cannot help but wonder how something as benign as a typewriter could change someone's life like that. So even though it is a fairly uneventful first line, it definitely piqued my curiosity.

I really need to see where it fits into the overall synopsis, of what I think is going to be a fantastic read for you. Full of intrigue and mystery and certainly not the simple storyline that the cover art would have you believe ...
Great first line. You don't expect a typewriter to do much of anything, so it's certainly unusual.
